Domain-specific models are out-shipping frontier models in the enterprise

Frontier capability still makes the headlines, but the enterprise deals are closing on models that are smaller, cheaper to run, fine-tuned on the customer's own corpus, and easy to govern.

The reason is unglamorous: a model you can host in your own boundary, audit, and cap the cost of clears legal and security in weeks. A model you can't clears in quarters — if ever.

Signal: in regulated verticals, deployability beats raw IQ. The winning pitch is "good enough, and you control it."
